“If you can dream It! you can ACHIEVE IT”

Black Parent Now

An open forum for black families of our new era.  We, as black parents, need to take control of our home and our families legacy.  As a group of people, and as a race, I believe we have lagged behind in society because (1)we have stopped valuing education as the prime driver behind social development and empowerment,(2) we still allow ourselves to be mentally imprisoned by old prejudices and social norms, thus effectively creating significant obstacles to real integration into mainstream society, and (3) successful blacks have failed to sufficiently invest both emotional and financial resources to help overall improvement of the black communities.

MLK's "dream" was not to ride expensive cars, live in big houses and shop the latest brands.  Too many of us are trapped in the get rich quick mentality and have forgotten to focus on education, which is the only true long term producer of wealth and positive development.

Education is also the means to bridge the social and cultural divides, the source of building pride and confidence in your abilities and the means to eradicate ignorance.  We need to stop seeing color and start seeing ourselves as a person - to break through our self-imposed boxes and glass ceilings.   This mental transformation needs to take place in a just as much as the rest of society, in order to achieve the worthy objective where we all are "judged only based upon the content of our character".

My thought behind Black Parent Now forum is to get this dialogue started in a positive way . When we join in this fight together, we can bring the dream back to life, and make it reality - if not for us, at least for our children.

The dream means that in order to achieve and become proud members of our society, we need to aim higher and more boldly.  It is more than quoting statistics of black achievements and "firsts".

I truly do not believe that Dr King, And Marcus Gravy were dreaming about us in the way the stats show us today. Start here and now and let's make a change.  Start the dialogue and action by helping others  in our race, whether Spanish, Caribbean or European blacks.  We need to do better.  The time is now.

Mission Statement:

We firmly believe in the old adage: “It takes a village to raise a child”.  In today’s world, this can be modified to “it takes a global village to raise a child”.

It will take more than my Posting , podcasting, and blog talk to get this message across.

Wake up black America!  The stats are there to prove it. Black  children have the

highest dropout rates in school compare to other minority groups.
